The solution is developed in an Agile/SCRUM environment, with all source code stored in a version control repository so that the history of each release can be tracked and traced.

ACARS stands for Aircraft Communication Addressing and Reporting System, and is a digital datalink system that links aircraft to ground stations over VHF radio or satellite. Each airline customizes the ACARS network to fit its unique requirements, and each aircraft has its own on-board system with different functionality.

In the event of a communication problem, an automated ping message is sent to the aircraft by the ground station if the ACARS system has been silent for more than a preset time interval. This prompts the aircraft to respond with a ping response, which is recorded by the ground station. This helps the ground station verify that the aircraft is still communicating with it and that the flight is proceeding as planned.
