Kampala International University

 


The Kampala International University is a private, not-for-profit institution in Uganda. It was founded in 2001 and received chattered status in 2009. The institution offers a wide range of programs for international students. To date, it has graduated nearly 5,000 graduates. In 2010, the university grew to over 600 staff members and is now one of the largest institutions in Uganda. Its commitment to transparency and compliance led to the lifting of the ban on admissions to the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery programme.

The Kampala International University is home to three campuses, including the main campus. The western campus houses the School of Health Sciences. It is the country's only private medical school. The school offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in health care and is the largest institution of its kind in the region. The school was the first to open in Uganda, and was later joined by the College of Medicine. The school has a total of 1,200 beds. In addition to its medical programs, KIU also operates a teaching hospital.

The main campus of KIU is situated in the town of Gongo la Mboto. It is 500m from Julius Nyerere Road. It provides courses in various academic fields and offers diplomas, certificates and degrees. The KIU Western Campus Hospital is a private hospital with a capacity of 1,200 beds.
