In addition, the image should also be easy to modify, and so, it is important that it is created in the right format. This is where graphic files and software packages come into play.

Graphic files or images are the building blocks of a graphic. These are the most basic materials that allow an artist to draw and then edit his or her artwork. The use of software programs allows people to convert these images into different formats and thereby create a standard format for them. But what makes a graphic file, say a bar graph, a bar chart, or a pie chart? Graphic files are collections of lines and shapes. The term graphic comes from the French word 'gauche'. A graphic file can consist of anything from a line or a shape to a color or a logo. There are literally hundreds of different kinds of graphic files, each having different purposes and characteristics.

Graphic design is the art of making or presenting a picture or a set of lines and shapes in such a way that it draws the viewer's attention. This is one of the most important aspects of web design.
